Grades • Tests • At least one / 1 or 2 chapters • Most ~25 MC, 5-8 idents, 2 short or one big essay • Quizes • T&F at various times for various sections – will know in advance! • Homework • Primay Sources – Will be discussed & collected • Book work – Usually not collected but is in your best interest to do it • At least one formal DBQ&FRQ/ Marking Period • First paper due in October – “coffee shop” • Euro DBQ’s are different than U.S. DBQ’s! • Projects / alternative assignments as the opportunity arises • Bonus • Hand writtenoutline for sections covered in Palmer, due at beginning of period

How to be successful in AP Euro • Read the book • Read the book • Listen to what I am telling you • Ask questions • Don’t try to memorize everything in the book • Do the bonus outlines for the tests • Be flexible • Think for yourself, trust yourself • Be here (8thpdprobs) • Don’t focus on the grade, focus on the learning • Read the book

  7. THE Test • Friday 8 May at 12:00 • Part I: 80 MC questions in 55 minutes • ~ ½ 1450 – Napoleon • ~ ¼ 19th century • ~ ¼ 20th century & beyond • About evenly divided between politics/diplomacy, social/economic, and cultural/intellectual

  8. THE Test • Part II – Free response (15 + 120 minutes) • A. DBQ – 45% • Scored 1-9 • 10-12 documents • Get up to an 8 w/o any outside information • B. & C. FRQ – 55% • TWO essays • Pick one of three choices for eac

Where are we going? • Chapter 1 test on Friday • Tests will be about 1 ½ - 2 weeks apart (longer for combined chapters) • Napoleon by Christmas • End of WW2 by mid/late April • Will do best to announce test dates at the beginning of the unit or earlier • Have a trip or going to be out? Let me know!
