  3. Communicating with the Coach • Good communications are essential. Complete forms carefully and return them promptly. • Follow up by mail and phone. • Return phone calls immediately, and remember that the NCAA coach can only once a week. (Per NCAA rules you cannot be called by a college coach until July 1 after completion of your junior year in high school) • When the coach calls, • the coach wants to present the school and soccer program, • to learn more about you, the player • arrange to move you further along the recruiting pipeline, • home visit or to an official visit to the school. • If you are not interested, save everyone time and be honest about it. However, if you are interested, there's a lot you need to find out about the school and program so that you'll be able to make a good decision.

  4. Remember you will need 16 core course credits by the time you graduate to be eligible for the NCAA • Get Your Grades Up--Must be 2.0 Or Better In Solid College Prep Curriculum Freshman/Sophomore Years:

Junior Year • Make Sure Your Grades Are Good...Between 2.5 and 3.5 Will Get You In Most Schools • Take The SAT and ACT too If Possible • Begin Studying Colleges For Educational Interests and Soccer Program • Prepare A Package Documenting Your Educational And Soccer Qualifications and send to your schools

  6. Spring Of Junior Year/Summer before Senior Year: • Take The SAT And ACT If You Have Not Already Done So • Make unofficial visits to the schools you are interested in and the interest is reciprocated

  7. During Senior Year: • Set Goal To Improve Your GPA • Make your official visits (5 maximum, 1 per school) • If you have not committed which schools did you like?

  8. Cont. Senior Year: • Keep In Touch With Admissions Departments And College Soccer Coaches • After January 1, Fill Out All Financial Aid Documents • Visit the school if you have already made a commitment • Continue To Follow-up With Admissions Offices, Financial Office & Coaches
