  1. Scene 1

  2. Vanessa: Good morning, Mr. Zwingli. • I hope you had a pleasant • evening.

  3. Ji: I’d prefer if you both call me Ji. • Well, ladies, what’s on the • agenda for today?

  4. Renka: Most of the day is meetings in • the office. First one is with • Paul Wong. Do you remember • Paul?

  5. Ji: The name rings a bell.

  6. Vanessa: Paul is in charge of • logistics. He wants to go • over the details of our new • shipping agency.

  7. Ji: Oh! That Paul. I met him on my • last trip here.

  8. Renka: And speak of the devil, here • he is now.

  9. Paul: Ji. It’s been a while. How was • your flight?

  10. Ji: Good to see you too, Paul. It’s • always a good flight when you fly • business class.

  11. (later) • Ji: Those meetings were the number • one reason I came on this trip.

  12. Vanessa: Sometimes a face-to-face is • the only way.

  13. Paul: I’ve taken the liberty of • reserving a table at Papa Dino’s • Shall we?

  14. Ji: Paul, I hate to override your plans, • but would you mind if we went to • a night market instead?

  15. Vanessa: Wonderful idea. That way • we can sample the local • food. But let’s not forget we • have a nine a.m. meeting at • the factory.

  16. Scene 2

  17. Vanessa: Morning, Ji. You look bright- • eyed and bushy-tailed.

  18. Renka: Unlike me! Paul called to say • he was running late; he’ll • meet us at the factory. Let’s • take my car. If everyone is • ready, we can head out

  19. (later) • Vanessa: I hope this trip has been • worth your while.

  20. Ji: It sure has been.

  21. Renka: We have a few hours left. Is • there anything in particular • you wanted to see or do?

  22. Ji: Yesterday a handicraft market • was mentioned. I’d like to take • some souvenirs home for the folks • at the office, not to mention the • family.

  23. Vanessa: You can’t go home empty- • handed. I’d be glad to help • you bargain over souvenirs.

  24. Ji: And I’ve yet to see a national park.

  25. Renka: I was just about to ask. • Tomorrow morning, if you’re • up for it, we can take a short • hike up to a scenic spot in the hills. • That is unless you have other • plans.

  26. Ji: None. A morning hike fits my • schedule fine.

  27. Vanessa: And you’ll still have time to • get back to the hotel, • shower and change. We’ll • make sure you catch your • flight.
