DM CoRC Leadership • Focus Subcommittee: • Develop the strategic plan for the year • Education Subcommittee: • Gather and distribute information on the effects of alcohol abuse and illegal drug use • Brief at FTAC, ALS & Heart Link spouse orientation • Prevention Subcomittee: • Identify and help organize projects/activities that promote and provide alternatives to alcohol abuse and illegal drug use

Airmen Against Drunk Driving (AADD) • Program Description: • Provide peer support, education, awareness, and alternatives to drinking and driving • Provide a safe environment at D-M and in the Tucson community • Fri/Sat/Long Weekends 2300-0400 • Arizona BAC limit = .08 • Commander’s Responsibilities: • Volunteer drivers (E-1 thru O-10) • Non-attribution/anonymity

  12. Ground Floor • Program Description: • Alternative event location in dorms, open to all Airmen in dorms • Free refreshments, movies, video games, seminars, band instruments • Commander Responsibilities: • Support program • Encourage airmen to use facility

Lightning Strike Force (LSF) • Program Description: • Group provides a 3 person team to visit dorms 2X per week and on Friday and Saturday nights • Team provides leadership and career development • Identify improvement opportunities for dorms – provide activity report • By leadership being on-site, reduces opportunity for dorm drinking • Commander's Responsibilities: • Visit the dorms as well and know the living conditions of your Airmen

  14. Wingman Card Program • Program Description: • Wingman is there to multiply the effects of your flight! You lead him/her and have great responsibility to protect your wingman • Commander Responsibilities: • Wingman cards are available to unit personnel • Front of card - important contact numbers • Back of card provides principles of a good Wingman

  15. DM CoRC Leadership • Key: Partner with Community • City/County Task Force • Prevention Coalitions • Local Universities/schools • Civil authorities • Governors Office of Highway Safety • Police Departments

  16. CoRC Leadership – Way Ahead • Department of Justice Grant - $900K over 3 years • Hired a Program Coordinator • Working closely with Luke AFB • Attend community Task Forces (County and Univ of AZ) • Plan a one day workshop on underage drinking best practices

CoRC Leadership – Way Ahead • Develop a community collaboration guide • Conduct targeted saturation deployments – Shoulder Tap, Covert Underage Buyers, etc • Report findings to establishments • Conduct Meetings with Tucson Police Dept to establish reporting protocols • Establish an assessment tool for new airmen and referrals from civilian courts/AF Leadership
