  2. -Er Verb Conjugation • Verb conjugation is like doing a puzzle. Just follow these two steps: • For –er verbs: • Drop the –er • Match the verb ending to the subject • For example: • Je/aimer  J’aime • Tu/aimer  Tuaimes

  10. French –er verbs • are called “-er” verbs • because • they end in “-er” Look at these French verbs: Do you see that they end in –er ? Yes No

  14. Subject/Verb Matching • Speaking French is a lot like putting together a puzzle. The subject and the verb need to match. • You need to find the matching ending. • How? Look at this chart to learn the matching ending for each subject.

  20. There is an Exception… • When you want to say “we” you need to pay attention to verbs with the letter “g.” Examples are: nager and manger. For these verbs you need to add an “e” before the regular “ons” ending. Examples in a sentence: Nous mangeons. (We eat.) Nous nageons. (We swim.) Nous parlons. (We speak.) Nous aimons le chien. (We like the dog.)
