Important Considerations for UC Admissions • Complete the 15 UC-required college-preparatory (“a-g”) courses, with 11 of those done by end of 11th grade • Take Honors, AP, or IB coursework when possible • Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better • Take the ACT with writing or SAT 1 • Subject Tests recommended

  15. PSAT (Preliminary SAT) • Critical to take in 11th grade year • Only offered in October each year • National Merit Scholarship qualifying test

  16. The SAT Reasoning Test SAT • Includes a writing segment • Maximum score is 2400 • 200-800 Critical Reading • 200-800 Math • 200-800 Writing • Covers Int. math 3/Algebra 2 (helpful to complete by end of Jr. year)

  17. The ACT ACT • Includes an additional, optional, writing piece (required for UC’s) • Maximum score is a 36 • 1-36 English • 1-36 Math • 1-36 Reading • 1-36 Science • 1-36 Composite

  18. SAT Subject Tests • Two SAT Subject Tests will no longer be required for Admission to the UC’s (beginning with class of 2012) but are still recommended. Subject Test Offerings: * Literature * Math Level 2 * Biology * Chemistry * Physics * US History * World History * Foreign Language

  21. Need a quiet place to study or do your homework with tutoring support if needed? Every Tuesday thru Thursday the Library is open as a learning center from 2:45 – 3:45 to work on homework, obtain help, or hold study groups. Tutors are available for most subjects.
