  2. Electromagnetic Induction • The charges in a wire can be moved by moving a magnet in and out of a coil of wire. • In a circuit, a current is made by changing the magnetic field.

  3. Electromagnetic Force • The electromagnetic force is due to electricity and magnetism. • Electromagnetic waves are made of magnetic and electric fields oscillating at right angles to each other.

  4. Transformers • Made of two coils wrapped around opposite sides of a closed iron loop. • A magnetic field is made by a primary coil and creates a current in the secondary coil.

  5. Transformers • Used to adjust the voltage to homes • Step-up transformers increase the voltage leaving power plants • Step-down transformers decrease the voltage entering neighborhoods
