What is the IFA • A charity organisation (Registered Charity No: 327290) • Founded in 1985 • Founder of International Training Standards • Approximately 1800 Members and 79 registered schools in the UK and Overseas • Upholding professional standards within Codes of Practice and Ethics • Forerunners in the promotion of Aromatherapy

Why the IFA • The IFA offers security, a continuing training and development programme, links with members at home and abroad, a sense of belonging to a well respected and caring organisation • Full members can add ‘MIFA reg’ to their name • Are protected by the IFA’s professional indemnity and public liability insurance • Are regularly updated on current professional developments and training opportunities • Receive a quarterly in-house magazine • Meet regionally to exchange ideas, for advice and support

  5. Continuous Professional Development • 36 hours minimum over 3 year period • Research • Attendance at qualifying lectures and workshops • Magazine articles / published papers • Involvement in liaison with other organisations

RegisteredCourse • Follow the IFA Syllabus • Principal Teacher must be IFA Certified as such • Teachers are to IFA Standards • IFA certifies grades of teachers: • Trainee – Assistant – Principal and recognises specialist lectures • Schools are inspected (standards and facilities) • Applies World-Wide

What is an IFA Qualified Aromatherapists? • Attended an IFA accredited school • - for minimum duration of 9 (nine) months • - Minimum 120 hours supervised – 240 hours unsupervised • - Principal teacher/students ration maximum 1:8 • Passed IFA Practical and Theory Examination • - including 50 Case Studies and a Business Study Thesis • - including a detailed knowledge of min. 50 Essentials oils • (Latin names, sources, extraction, chemical components etc.) • Has a professional Indemnity Insurance cover • Holds a current recognised First Aid Certificate • The IFA Qualification is Professional – not academic
