  3. Habitat • Family is found in warm, tropical seas and oceans worldwide • Genus is found in all tropical and subtropical seas • Lives in or near coral reefs

  4. Feeding • Carnivorous and predatory • hunt and eat worms (vermivores) • Fish (piscivores) • mollusks, and other cone snails (molluscivores)

  5. Harpoon and Venom • Uses a venomous harpoon called a toxoglossanradula to capture faster-moving prey, such as fish • Each harpoon is a modified tooth primarily made of chitin • The radular tooth is loaded with venom, which can be fatal, and can be fired into the prey by a powerful muscle contraction • Venom can also be used for creating pharmaceutical drugs
