  2. Examples of Ways to Remix and Revise Remix an OER to meet the changing needs of students. • A teacher translates a web page about Queen Elizabeth from English to French. • A teacher replaces pictures depicting Russian children working on a water project with images that are more familiar to her students in Ghana. • A teacher changes some wording in a fourth grade unit on spaceflight to make it better suited for his third grade students.

  3. Quality • Key points to remember about quality: • Content needs to be relevant • Review final product for continuity when using multiple sources • Define terms when needed • Clean up the presentation using an editor • Make note of the tone and voice used in the OER • Expect a few challenges when remixing and adapting OER materials.

  4. Translation • Make sure that you use an editor and recheck with a native speaker for clarity. • Check with the OER developers to see if alternative languages are available.

  5. Offline Versions • Access is available without Internet connections • Pages may be zipped and opened at a later date • Check the license to verify that reuse and modifications are permitted.

  6. Accessibility • Begin with the end in mind and make plans to create accessible version of your product • Verify the code for mark ups so that screen readers can access the HTML codes • Use CSS for fonts, colors, alt text, and content presentation • Follow accessibility guidelines – access for all • Provide alternatives when needed

  7. Perspectives • Reuse and remix when appropriate • Consider the audience when creating OER for shared uses • View several examples and read often so that you are aware of what is available
