  2. The 5 Paragraph Essay • How many paragraphs are in a 5 paragraph essay? • Answer: 5 • That’s crazy! • The 5 Paragraph Essay is the most common essay that almost everyone learns in school. • It is called 5 Paragraph because of its structure.

  3. Your Essay’s Organization • Introduction -General information on topic -Specific information towards your main idea -Thesis Statement (or main idea) as the last sentence of your introduction 2. Body Paragraphs (paragraphs 2, 3, and 4) -Topic Sentence relating back to thesis -Supporting idea -Example to illustrate 3. Conclusion: -Restate thesis and main points in new and interesting ways -Close with final thoughts of main idea

It takes certain characteristics to actually graduate and do well in a job. People who are diligent, punctual, and goal-oriented are more likely to succeed in college and also in their careers.

  11. Body Paragraph Example It is important be punctual when attending college classes and in the workplace. If students are frequently late to class, they may not learn the course material or be aware of due dates for assignments. Late students could get bad grades, and bad grades look bad on job applications. Furthermore, punctual people are more likely to be on time for job interviews or business meetings, which isnecessary to succeed in a career. My friend said that he didn’t get a job once because he was late to an interview. The interviewers really wanted to hire him, but told him they couldn’t because they needed their employees to be very punctual.

  12. Paragraph 5: Conclusion • Your conclusion restates your thesis statement and your most important points. • Maybe include your opinion at the very end. • Leave the reader with something to think about
