  2. Punto # 1 • An infinitive tells the meaning of the verb without naming any subject or tense. • There are 3 kinds of infinitives in Spanish: • -ar, -er, -ir

  3. Punto # 1 continued • -arinfinitives • Cantar: to sing • -erinfinitives • Comer: to eat • -irinfinitives • Escribir: to write

  4. Punto # 2 • Just like nouns, infinitives can be used after a verb like gustar to say what you and others like to do.

  5. Punto # 2 continued • I like music. • Me gustala música. • I like to sing. • Me gustacantar.

  6. Punto # 3 • Always use gusta (not gustan) with infinitives.

  7. Punto # 3 continued I like sports. Me gustan los deportes. I like to play tenis. Me gustajugar al tenis.
