Blend of Grading Scales • Students can expect to have a mix of “traditional” assignments and assessments calculated on a “traditional” 0-100 scale: • Quizzes • Multiple-Choice • Reading Guides • Daily classwork • Bell-work • Students can also expect to have MYP rubric-scored assignments and assessments : • Unit Assessments • Projects • Reflective Writing • Lab Reports • Socratic Seminars

GPAs & Transcripts • ISS utilizes a 4-point “Un-weighted” GPA • HONOR’S CLASSES = +1 Quality Point toward a “Weighted GPA” (all MYP courses in 9th grade are Honor’s Level) • AP & DP CLASSES = +2 Quality Points toward a “Weighted GPA” • All grades for HS credit courses are included on transcripts • Those taken in MS are coded differently • Codes also differentiate Honors/AP/DP

13. 96-100 = 4.0 Regular; 5.0 Honors; 6.0 AP/DP Students are awarded points for every FINAL grade they receive. The points are then averaged together to calculate the GPA.

15. Freshman Year Transcripts Year-long Classes Only includes MS HS credit courses taken + the Earth & Environmental Science (and Math I if applicable) credit until the end of the year

Promotion Standards Year 4 • In order to remain at SIHS in the MYP, all Year 4 Students must: • Pass all MYP courses • Complete the required C&S by the end of the year deadline • Have not received out-of-school suspension for more than 1 disciplinary infractions OR in-school suspension for more than 2 disciplinary infractions in the same academic year

Promotion StandardsYear 5 • In order to stay at SIHS and to advance to Year 1 of the Diploma Programme and/or the IB Career Certificate Programmeall Year 5 students must: • Pass all MYP courses • Successfully complete the capstone Personal Project • Complete all required C&S hours by the end of the year deadline • Have not received out-of-school suspension for more than 1 disciplinary infractions OR in-school suspension for more than 2 disciplinary infractions in the same academic year

Exams 1st Semester (January) 2nd Semester (June) Year-long and 2nd Semester classes Exams are given in all MYP classes Exam grades = 20% of the final grade for each course • Year-long classes • No exams at this time • Semester-long classes • E&E Sci. and Math I will take final exams at this time • Worth 20% of final grade

20. Please Do Not Plan Vacations During the Last Week of School Exams run all the way until the last day of school on the calendar (Last day (June 11th) is for exam make-ups and IB Awards)

21. What Happens After the MYP? IB Diploma Programme or IB Career Certificate or Traditional Track

22. The IB Diploma Programme • Two year continuum • 6 concurrent college-level courses • CAS & Extended Essay • Rigorous assessment at the end of the Senior year • Includes an “oral” component for Lang. & Lit. and Lang. Acquisition • Students can earn the IB Diploma in addition to their HS diploma

23. The IB Career Certificate • Two year continuum • Combination of DP and Career Tech classes • Includes a “reflective project” and Community Service component • Participate in the DP assessments for the courses taken • NOT “DP-LITE”

24. Traditional Track Because of the accelerated coursework through the MYP: • Opportunity to take multiple AP level courses • More electives can be added for exploration
