  6. THERE ARE OPPORTUNITIES EVERYWHERE Around the World… and in our backyard

  7. 1 out of every 8 people are living in poverty in the US according to the 2010 US Census.

  8. Every Thursday, the Fellowship Cup, just two blocks from here… distributes meals for 300 families who live below the poverty level. Everyday they provide a hot meal for seniors… for most it is the only meal they have that day.

  9. There are dozens of children in our area waiting to be mentored…. Many children want to play sports but don’t have anyone offering support or encouragement to do so… Some don’t have access to shoes and other sporting equipment and so their parents never get them involved.

  10. The humane society estimates that 4 million animals are euthanized each year. There is NO animal shelter in Mt. Pleasant

  11. Around the World 8000 people die each day due to complications of AIDS. In developing and transitional countries, 9.5 million people are in immediate need of life-saving AIDS drugs; of these, only 4 million (42%) are receiving the drugs. (www.avert.org)

  13. In Angola less than 2% of the population goes to college In Sierra Leone 73% of females receive no education…. AT ALL…

  14. The average cost of a college education in countries like Ethiopia is $40 per month (room and board included)

  15. Have you ever walked 3 miles for drinking water?

  16. 5 MILLION…. 5,000,000 people die each year because of diseases from BAD water Between 34 and 70 million people will die by 2020 because of water related diseases. ……Most of them children (pacific institute, 2010)

  17. According to UNICEF there will be 44 million children living in orphanages this year…. 44,000,000 That’s 626 Hawkeye Stadiums full of orphans. most of whom are living in horrible conditions. WATER Project, 2011
