It mechanically and chemically breakdowns food into smaller molecules which can be absorbed into the blood stream

Process of putting food or drink into your mouth
Path of Digestion
Salivary glands – Excrete enzymes
Pharynx – epiglottis covers trachea when you swallow
Stomach –churns the food and mixes with gastric juice to form chyme
Small intestine –duodenum – breaks down fat with bile from liver – enzymes from pancreas break down chyme
Undigested materials (feces) from the large intestine pass into the rectum and are eliminated through the anus
