Since there are not national standards for agricultural machinery data base includes: EC Directives (89/392/, 91/368/, 93/44/, 93/68/, 95/16/, 98/37/, 98/79/, 2006/42/ ) EN Standards ISO Standards In total 153 records Difficulties in determination of market relevance No data available from Greek manufacturers about the cost spread from standards application Almost all standards available in the library of I.A.M.C. Therefore, innovative products of agricultural sector were selected according to the following principals: • All products had to be patented • All innovative products must be on production • Difficulties in receiving completed questionnaires

Difficulties in apprehending the questions Great effort in order to have 10 questionnaires Many manufacturers were not keen to participate National Report Trends of agricultural machinery market in Greece: Reduction of agricultural population Bigger exploitations per producer Reduction of sales Farmers’ educational training Enterprises that will adopt technological innovation, and comply with the new standards will maintain and improve their competitiveness Full consensus regarding: The significant operational areas of enterprises The skills and skills specialization Differences in: Professional figures concerning the number of roles Great need for specific training expressed by the enterprises THE FIELD WORK CARRIED OUT IN GREECE Questionnaires and national report

Promotion of the project to the Hellenic Association of Manufacturers of Agricultural Machinery Participation in congress of the Hellenic Union of Agricultural Engineers Organization of a meeting during the international fair “Agrotica 2006” Presentation of the project to students in Athens Agricultural University Presentation of the project in N.AG.RE.F.’s quarterly journal THE FIELD WORK CARRIED OUT IN GREECE Dissemination activities

Great effort is required in order to apply new standards and technological innovations Manufacturers don’t spend time on projects with indirect benefits Hellenic enterprises try hard in order to improve the quality of their products Despite of the small size of the Greek enterprises they have begun recruiting staff having the professional profile described in the “Map of Competences” Urgent need for specific training Conclusions THE FIELD WORK CARRIED OUT IN GREECE
