  2. Demonstrative Pronouns • Demonstrative pronouns are pronouns that demonstrate a noun. • Demonstrative pronouns tell which one or which group is being referred to. • THAT, THIS, THESE, and THOSE are all demonstrative pronouns.

  3. THIS and THESE refer to/point to people or things that are near in space and time. • This is my new car. These are my video games. • THAT and THOSE point to people or things that are farther away in space or time. • That was my favorite movie. Those were my old shoes.

  4. Antecedents • An antecedent is the word that gives meaning to a pronoun. • When talking about demonstratives, the antecedent is the word that the pronoun refers to. This is my dog, Bilbo Waggins. Demonstrative Pronoun Antecedent
