3. MY REFLECTIONthrough the years Hi I’m Janelle Fittro. I’m currently near the end of my senior year at Kellam High School and I can definitely say that my school years have flown by. I can still picture myself as a young student standing outside waiting for the bus to arrive. I have certainly changed both personally and intellectually over the duration of my life thus far. One of the biggest things that has changed is my writing. A more suitable description for it is that it’s evolved from being in a kindergarten class to an advanced placement literature course. It’s been thirteen years since I first picked up a pencil and learned to write my ABC’s. My sentences started out very short with vague diction. My grammar and spelling was entirely hideous proving that I was an immature writer, yet that was what was expected from a young child. Only years and years of practice and work could change all of that. As I grew from one grade level to the next, my writing started to improve. Every year my sentence length got more complex since my vocabulary and grammar allowed me to elaborate more. Now I am able to analyze pieces of literature, write poetry, type research papers along with their correct citations and create stories. All my years of growing has helped me prepare for college, a place where I’ll will be forced to write papers left and right. I have never been a true fan of writing, some may criticize me for that fact; however, that’s the honest truth. It has never been one my strengths. I have always had to work harder at writing papers than solving math problems so perhaps that could be a reason for my lack of allegiance to the subject, but I can say that I have always tried my hardest to the best papers I can.
