  1. BITTT and CCSDS in China October 2010

  2. About BITTT BITTT is the abbreviation for Beijing Institute of Tracking and Telecommunications Technology.

  3. About BITTT Position • BITTT is the only direct subordinate institute of China Launch and Tracking Control General (CLTC). • BITTT is not only a core department in CLTC, but also the only dedicated institute for TTC general design and application in China.

  4. About BITTT Major work • BITTT is engaged in TTC network design, mission analysis, research and application of new TTC technology .

  5. About BITTT Achievement • performed general technical scheme and interface design to provide TTC service for all space missions in China, such as Shenzhou manned space mission, ChangE lunar explorer mission. • accomplished planning and design of TTC network ,including launch center, mission operation center, S-band TTC network, and so on.

  6. CCSDS in China Current Status S-band TTC network • has been compatible with CCSDS in RF and modulation • convolutional coding and R-S coding has been provided as options for downlink.

  7. CCSDS in China Current Status Satellite data communications system • Convolutional coding , and R-S coding has been provided as options for return link. • TC space link protocol and TC synchronization and channel coding has been provided as options for forward link • AOS space link protocol has been provided as option for both forward link and return link

  8. CCSDS in China Current Status ChangE-1 and ChangE-2 mission • convolutional coding has been implemented in TTC downlink . • R-S coding has been implemented in data transfer downlink. • CCSDS space packet protocol and AOS space link protocol has been implemented in data transfer downlink. • BACC and ESOC has realized cross support by SLE CLTU and SLE RAF. Resource mission • AOS space link protocol has been implemented in data transfer downlink.

  9. CCSDS in China In Future As to deep space stations, which is being constructed: • will be compatible with CCSDS in RF and modulation. • convolutional coding and R-S coding will be provided as options for downlink. • AOS space link protocol will be provided as option for downlink. • SLE may be provided as optional interface to mission operation centre or payload operation centre.

  10. CCSDS in China In Future As to ChanE-3 mission, in addition to what has been implemented in ChangE-1 and ChangE-2, • concatenated coding will be implemented in data transfer downlink. • DOR measurement will be made, and once applicable, CCSDS Recommendation for Delta-DOR will be adopted .

  11. CCSDS in China In Future Manned space mission • concatenated coding or individual convolutional coding will be implemented in forward and return links. • AOS space link protocol will be implemented.

  12. CCSDS in China In Future As to research area • Research on space network which is suitable for future space missions of China is being made. • CCSDS recommendations are important candidate protocols. • A testbed is being constructed to evaluate the performance of candidate protocols.
