  2. ECOMAT 2008, Bucharest September 25-26 Antioxidants are the compounds that delay the degradation of substrate in which they are added. The benefit brought about by the antioxidants is the retardation in the chemical modification of the environment where they act as radical protection. There are two main classes of antioxidants: natural antioxidants synthesis compounds The main difference between these materials consists of the level of compatibility with alive systems. The toxic compounds that appear as intermediates from synthetic compounds have pushed the researchers on the way of natural products.

ECOMAT 2008, Bucharest September 25-26 NATURE OFFERS TO MANKIND A LARGE VARIETY OF NATURAL ANTIOXIDANTS FOR SELF – PROTECTION AND FOR PRODUCTION OF FRIENDLY MATERIALS The main antioxidants are represented by phenolic acids (e.g. vanillic, caffeic, chlorogenic, rosmarinic acids), phenolic diterpenes (e.g. carnosol, rosmanol, isorosmanol, carnosic acid) and flavonoids (e.g. naringernin, apigenin, luteolin, diosmin, hispidulin, genkwanin, cirsimaritin).

The areas that may be used the ecological stabilized polymers are medical wear, food industry, pharmaceutics, cosmetics, solar protection of skin

The diversity of herbs that contain antioxidants in a large extent offers different options for every specific applications, especially in the food industry, where the odor of products plays an important role in the extension of market.

It means that the structure consists of two aromatic rings linked by a three-carbon unit, which may or may not be a part of a third ring.
