Ship Loading before Recovery Cruise • Sign up for one time slot below • Be there 20 minutes early for registration and parking, ready to work at the times indicated • Bring: ID, clothes that can get dirty, closed-toe shoes, long pants, sun protection • Expect: work 2-3h loading gear onto the ship, under direction of Paul Chua • (underline denotes driver:) • Tuesday, April 22, 09:00: Christian, Gerry • Tuesday, April 22, 13:00: Ailin, Jannes, Katherine • Wednesday, April 23, 09:00: Natasha, 2*Maddy, Clifford • Wednesday, April 23, 13:00: Amanda, Waen, Celia • Location: Nimitz Marine Facility (“MarFac”) • 297 Rosecrans Street • Use “upper” parking lot (immediate right after entry into facility) and register yourself and the car with security guard (follow alley towards water, then building on your left, upper floor) • https://scripps.ucsd.edu/ships/marine-facility/map-and-directions/driving

Group 1: Internal Waves • Madeleine Harvey, Madelaine Hamann • Before cruise: • Read ADCP manual • Determine waypoints for ADCP survey around buoy • Reprogram sampling frequency of buoy instruments • During cruise: • Monitor ship ADCP • Salinity water sampling • Obtain and archive on additional computer/drive: • All mooring ADCP data • All mooring SBE-37 data

Group 2: Oxygen + pH • Celia Ou, Waen Anutaliya • Before cruise: • Read oxygen manuals (SBE 43 and AADI optode) • Read oxygen methodology document by Dickson • Print 3 MSDS (one copy each, bring to cruise) • Confirm that you have basic lab safety training • During cruise: • Oxygen water sampling • Obtain and archive on additional computer/drive: • All mooring SBE-16 data • All mooring SeapHet data

  5. Group 3: Temperature + Salinity • Clifford Hoang, Jannes Koelling • Before cruise: • Read CTD manuals (SBE 16 and 37) • Read section 3 of Kanzow et al. (2006) for cal/val methodology • During cruise: • Salinity water sampling • Obtain and archive on additional computer/drive: • All mooring SBE-37 data

Group 4: Currents and Documentation • Ailin Brakstad, Morven Muilwijk • Before cruise: • Read ADCP manual • Print 5 copies of each “blank” log sheet from ftp server, bring to cruise • Print 2 copies of previous mooring deployment log sheet, bring to cruise • During cruise: • Documentation: collect log sheets, scan log sheets and archive on home computer • Chlorophyll water sampling • Take pictures (and archive on home computer) of: • CTD rosette with instruments attached • Every recovered instrument (with ID on white board) • Obtain and archive on additional computer/drive: • All mooring ADCP data

Group 5: Chlorophyll • Katherine Zaba, Christian Briseno • Before cruise: • Read fluorometer manuals (WETLabs FLNTU and SeaPoint) • Contact Gabriela Chavez to see filtration equipment • During cruise: • Chlorophyll water sampling and filtration • Obtain and archive on additional computer/drive: • All mooring SBE-16 data • All mooring AOS data (if any)

Group 6: Benthic and Pelagic Biology • Natasha Gallo, Amanda Netburn • Before cruise: • Read oxygen manual (AADI optode) • Read ADCP manual • Confirm that you have basic lab safety training • During cruise: • Oxygen water sampling • Obtain and archive on additional computer/drive: • All mooring SeapHet data • All mooring AOS data (if any) • All mooring meteorology data

Group 7: Meteorology • Gerry Zhang • Before cruise: • Read Vaisala manual • Check with group 4 that they have prepared all printouts, print additional copies if needed • During cruise: • Monitor ship ADCP and meteorology data • Obtain and archive on additional computer/drive: • All mooring meteorology data • All ship-board ADCP and meteorology data (obtain these from “resident technician” at end of cruise)
