  2. wooden: whiney, self-pitying, and even rude. I know it was her way of coping, and of course every human being has their own way but it just didn't work for me. Hard for me to fee close to her.It was hard for me to find any similarities between Erin and characters in Lurlene's other books; those kids were also going through hell, fighting their own terminal illnesses, as well as those of their beloved friends. And all of them were lovable. It is impossible not to love Lurlene's characters, for me at least, to feel like I know them. I cried through every tragic but beautiful book. But I just couldn't warm up to Erin.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. I made a mistake and read the second book first as a single.
