A time for conferences is quickly approaching.Our time during the two-half day afternoons is limited, so if you have a conference form attached to this newsletter, I would like to meet with you.However, if you have not received an invitation and feel it is important for us to meet, we can schedule to a time before school one morning.The first requests in, are the first scheduled.I will do my very best to accommodate the time that works best for you.  Thank you!  • 03/01- Field Trip to Hands On Children’s Museum/PJ Day • 03/08- No School • 03/27-03/29- Conferences • (12:35 dismissals) • 03/30-04/07- No School • (Enjoy your Spring break!)   2. Spring has sprung- hooray! This month in math, we will be learning how to create/read fractions and how to tell time. In writing, our focus will be informative writing. Your child will learn how to craft an informational piece that teaches readers about a topic. Chloe Clark will be closed the first week of April for Spring Break. If you haven’t already, please be sure to return your child’s “Intent to Return” slip. This will help Chloe Clark get a better guess as to hoe many students will be returning or not returning for the 2018-2019 schoolyear.   5. February is here! Hooray!  This month, we will begin introducing new math concepts, such as measurement and place value. You can help your child at home by measuring items around the house with nonstandard tools, such as paper clips or with a standard tool, such as a ruler. Reminders Important Dates • 02/07- 100th Day of School • 02/14- Valentine’s Day • 02/18- No School (Presidents’ Day) • February 7th is our 100th day of school, and the entire first grade will be participating. All classes will transition from room-to-room, completing various 100th Day activities. Learning Focus Math Measurement (using nonstandard & standard units) Place Value (breaking numbers into tens & ones) • Reading • Long Vowels: A, E, O, U • Letters o and u to make the middle sound you hear in book. • Folktales • Nonfiction (Informational Texts) • Verbs • Contractions

  6. Welcome back to school, friends! I am SO SO excited to have you here!  My hope is that each and every one of you had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to a fun and exciting year. We are going to learn a ton AND we’ll have a blast doing it.   7. Happy Fall, ya’ll! This month in our classroom, your child will begin transitioning from kindergarten review to the introduction of first grade concepts and skills.   8. Gobble, Gobble! We’re wobblin’ right on into November! Throughout the month, our class will be brushing up on mathematics concepts learned in Module 1 (please see below). We will also begin Module 2 in math, which focuses on place value with addition and subtraction within 20.   9. Can you believe it? It’s December already! Your child has been working hard- both academically and behaviorally. Thank you parents/guardians for all of your commitment and hard work!
