  1. Registration 2018-2019 Class of 2019

Welcome to registration, soon to be seniors ☺! • Check your transcript … find your gpa and class rank and look for errors in grades or credit • Have you failed any classes throughout your high school career? • What classes do you still need to graduate? *Senior status:  18.5 credits *Graduate: 26 credits with specific requirements

  3. Graduation Requirements • Language Arts/English – 4 credits • Social Studies – 3.5 credits • .5 Human Geography, 1.World History, 1 US History, .5 Economics, .5 US Government • Math – 3 credits • Science – 3 credits • Foreign Language – 2 credits • Fine Art – 1 credit • PE – 1 credit • Health – .5 credit • Electives – 8 credits • Total of 26 credits • 40 hours of community service by December of Senior year

  4. What is in your PACKET • Graduation Requirements • Flow Charts from each department • Four Year Planning Guide (do with your parent) • CCHE Chart on college acceptance – how does your GPA compare?

  5. Advanced Placement (AP) Benefits: -Weighted GPA (5.0) -Potential of College Credit (AP Exam) -Academic Rigor BUT: Make sure you are ready! C’s, D’s, and F’s in AP classes do NOT help you!

Concurrent Enrollment These are college level classes taught while the student is in high school Most of these classes are Guaranteed Transfer Classes – meaning they will transfer to any Colorado school as credit That’s right … build a college transcript while taking a class here at Clear Creek! Must apply to RRCC or UCD, complete COF and meet testing requirements (But for right now do not worry about requirements or applying) • Red Rocks Community College: many options, must speak with Mrs. Phipps • University of Colorado at Denver (UCD Succeed) Credit Classes: APUSH • Up to 6 college credits. Tuition is approx. $225 per class. May take class without receiving credit. Forms will be completed in the classroom next fall. • Warren Tech/RRCC

  8. Social Studies Courses • Need both of the following: • Economics or Honors Economics • US Government or AP US Government

Math Classes It is strongly encouraged that all seniors take a math class because… Four years of Math is required by all Colorado four year universities or colleges Research says that four years of math in high school is the best predictor of post secondary success • Algebra I ? • Geometry ? • Algebra II ? • Pre-calculus • AP Calculus AB • College Prep Statistics • Higher level > talk to Mrs. Phipps about options!

Science Classes Although only three years of science is required, it is highly recommended and an expectation for many colleges that students continue their science coursework especially if the student plans to major in a science field Research also shows that continuing your science into the fourth year is another strong predictor of post secondary success Chemistry Honors/Physics Honors AP Biology/ AP Environmental Science Marine Biology / Botany Human Anatomy • / = alternate years

Classes tied to careers? • Art: Drawing & Painting, Digital Photography, Commercial Art, Pottery & Sculpture • Wood: Beginning Woodworking, Intermediate Woodworking • English/Art Electives: Journalism & Yearbook, Dramatic Literature • Music/Vocal: Concert Band/Wind, Piano Lab, Music Appreciation, Music Technology, Musical Theatre, Women’s Choir, Men’s Choir • Physical Education: Women’s Fitness, Strength & Conditioning, Fall/Spring PE • Other: Psychology, Philosophy, Visual Journaling, Drafting & Design, OUTDOOR SEMINAR, Set-Design, Spanish Theatre, Intro. To Criminal Law • Therapy Dog Handler (application required) • Peer Intern (selection process) • Teacher/Office Aide (form required) • Warren Tech? Work Study? Internship?

Registration Steps • A reminder that you must speak with your teachers if you wish to take an Honors or Advanced Placement class. • Go to the IC Portal and login to your account (Use CCHS website for link) • You do not have to select ACCESS • There are no ”off periods” or “study halls,” you must enroll in 7 classes each semester • Make sure that you enter both semesters of a year long class (should have 14 entries/classes) • Choose two alternates for electives (you may not get your first choice) • There is NO SAVE BUTTON ☺

Reminders • Deadline to complete on-line registration is May 7th • It is YOUR job to complete on-line registration through the IC portal • If you do not complete these steps by the deadline, your schedule will be selected for you and your schedule will be locked (no schedule requests allowed) • The master schedule is built around student requests – take this seriously!!
