  1. Workshop Saperi e valori nella partecipazione al dibattito scientifico 15 maggio 2009Città dell'Altra Economia, Roma Public Understanding & Ethics of Research: a new model to assess Motivations The relationship between science, ethics and practical philosophy is becoming increasingly clear: Bioethics is not only a topic of public discourse or an academic activity using socio-empirical methodologies. On the contrary, discussions in philosophical ethics are necessary for developing appropriate answers for the moral questions rose by the life sciences, the search for common values and shared moral convictions. The aim of these projects is not only to offer an overview of contemporary debates about bioethics issues but also a critical examination of different approaches. In addition, we want to provide an opportunity for students to reflect on this new methodology and a forum to discuss a variety of theoretical approaches, to deal with the controversies about the same methodology in contemporary bioethics. 2004 2006 In collaboration with M. Baldi, Ibimet/Cnr Goals 1 – To check the degree of knowledge on specific topics 2 – Sensibilization on Science and Ethics 3 – To promote participation of science, society and institutions through philosophical discussions Main Issues • What is PUS? • Why ethics? • Sources of info • Awareness on science and ethics • Values of Science • Knowledge in several topics from climate to environment, sustainable development, genome and new medicine, genetics and procreation, stem cells • What’s about scientific information and communication?
