CLASS RULES The class rules were established using a social contract that the students created based on these 4 questions. · How do you want to be treated by the teacher? · How do you want to be treated by each other? · How do you think the teachers wants to be treated? · How do we want to treat each other when there is a conflict?

  6. STUDENTS WHO VIOLATE THE SOCIAL CONTRACT WILL BE ASKED… · What are you doing? · What are you suppose to be doing? · Are you doing it? · What are you going to do about it?

  7. STUDENTS WHO VIOLATE ANY OF THESE RULES • WILL FACE THE FOLLOWING CONSEQUENCES. • 1. Verbal Warning • 2. Student/Teacher Conference • 3. Detention & Note or Phone Call to Parents • 4. Referral to the Assistant Principal with possible school detention

  8. GRADES • Grades will be based on participation and effort. The best musician can fail without effort and a poor musician who tries can pass. The point break down is as follows: • A. Daily Class Participation: 5 points • B. Music Theory worksheets: 5-10 points • C. Weekly Practice Cards: 10 points • D. Quarterly Scales: 60 points • E. Concert or Competition performance: 50 points • F. Extra Credit Points are available • Extra Credit can be earned in a variety of ways; belonging to other performing groups, taking private lessons, attending professional musical performances.

Before turning in evidence of participation, be sure that your first and last names are printed legibly. If we cannot read the name, or if you leave it blank, you won't get credit!

  10. 10/4/13     DHS Football - Combined Secondary Pep Bands, DHS, 6pm - 7th/8th Advanced Band 10/11/13   DHS Homecoming Parade, Village Parkway, 2:30pm - 7th/8th Drum Line 12/11/13   Fallon Winter Concert, Fallon Gym, 7pm – ALL BANDS 2/18/14     District Music Festival, location TBD, 7pm - 6th Grade Intermediate Band, 7th/ 8th Advanced Band 3/8/14       Winter Guard/Percussion Show, location TBD, all day - Winter Guard/Percussion 3/15/14     St. Patrick's Day Parade, 8:30am, 7th/8th and 6th grades bands April 25-27 Anaheim Trip, 3 days - Jazz Band ,7th/8th Advanced Band **** 6th Grade Intermediate Band students can audition 5/10/14     Vallejo Band Review, all day – Jazz Band, 7th/8thAdvanced Band 5/16/14     Jazzin' for a Cure, DHS, 6pm – Jazz Band 5/17/14     Alameda Band Review, all day - 7th/8th Advanced Band 5/28/14     Fallon Spring Concert, Fallon Gym, 7pm – ALL BANDS

  11. FUND RAISERS There is a great need to do fundraising throughout the school year. Each member should take an active interest in doing the best they can in this area. The are two main types of fundraising. BAND BOOSTER FUNDRAISERS Funds generated by Booster fund raising goes into the Booster treasury or general fund. These are the funds which keep the program going. STUDENT FUNDRAISERS Due to recent changes in the law, we no longer have individual student accounts. Proceeds from Student Fundraisers will go into a Special Trip Fund so all students who qualify may attend the overnight trip to Anaheim. We will once again be selling Otis Spunkmeyer cookie dough Important Dates for the fundraiser Kickoff: Sept. 30 End Sale: Oct. 14 Delivery week: Nov. 11
