Importance of BIM Clash Detection & BIM Coordination Services in the Field Engineering - Building Information Modeling

Building Information Modeling which is one of the best pioneers for BIM services. And we had achieved more than 12 Years in BIM Engineering. Our services which are also globally delivered and we have great exposure in service the different domains of the industry. Our project preference belongs to different areas such as residential, healthcare, commercial, educational, industrial, retail, and hospitality. As a client concentric organization, we keep on upgrading our work methodology by keeping a tab on the latest BIM technology.

  1. Importance of BIM Coordination and Clash Detection Services in the field of engineering. Created By:

  2. Introduction • This is a universal fact that nobody can deny and it is that the construction industries have gained a lot of demand in the market and because of which its marketability has increased tremendously along with its existence. In the earlier time, when there was no such facility and the latest tools and technology, the team of contractors, engineers, and owners use to produce the design and prepare the model drawings on the piece of paper with the pencil to have a look as to how their building would be looking like. • Later it was in the year 1960, that the designers and the drafters started preparing the drawings in a 2D model and that was possible with the help of AutoCAD software, wherein the design of the models were easily been showcased as per the details shared by the architectural, structural, and MEP engineers. However, it took a lot of time to understand the model and visualize the accuracy of the design and that how the building material would be materialized post the construction of the building.

  3. There are many do's and don't of making drawings on the 2D CAD models. One of them is that it will require rework or redo of the work during construction and this is due to the installation process along with the design of the elements that would not be adequately shown in the 2D drawings. It is like the drawings that are drawn in 2D seems to be OK, but when building them the way it is shown in 2D is not at all practical. • Later in the 1980s, the construction industries started growing and this was leading towards modernization and with that, they started growing and look forward to adopting the latest BIM services and transforming the drawings and technology in digital form and that is all related to the construction industry. BIM was the service that was not very much is known by major companies, but since the government has made it compulsory for the use of the latest BIM drafting services in public and private projects, it indeed gained a lot of momentum.

  4. Building information modelingservices actually helps the team of architect and the engineers to check and have a look into the model very closely and also to check if at all there are any potential clashes occurring that needs to be resolved at the initial stage of the design itself. It actually enhances the collaboration and demands to follow all the three disciplines and that also in a detailed model. Having said this let us understand and have a look at how BIM Coordination and Clash detection services actually work in the construction project:

  5. Difference Between BIM Coordination and Clash Detection • In the construction industries, it is not at all saying in wrong, that these two services are very much necessary and this are interchangeable terms and are considered to be essential for any of the design to come into existence. This is the service that gives an accurate result and that is what is been expected and this also without any clashes in 3D BIM models. • The process of BIM Coordination services is an important part of the design criterion that processes all use in the construction projects. It provides a better as well as precise collaboration within the design model and with this process it gives a digital representation amongst three disciplines of the construction projects. • It is one of the processes that is required in building information modeling that is a link and considered to be coordination between architectural, structural, and MEP engineering based on the design and along with the elemental outcome. BIM coordination and BIM clash detection services give an outline for the installation process by following all the three disciplines.

  6. Clash detection services are the first stage in the process of BIM coordination. This is the process that identifies the clashes and shares the accurate interferences to check the reports that are very much important for the BIM model trades. • Clashes can be identified in different ways to extract the report in a specific format. The different types of clashes available are hard, soft, workflow clashes. This data report gives and helps to check the level of interference between the architects, structural, and MEP engineer's disciplines which help in sharing and differentiating the date between the severe and routine clashes. • Soft clashes resolve the process of re-modeling a BIM model, whereas some of the hard clashes need to be clarified and understood clearly so that the work with the expert engineers are done with convenience. • The three disciplines that assist in this process gives an expert view of inspection, identification, and reporting of the clashes across. This also gives a benefitting approach to ensuring the efficient execution of a new and existing project.

  7. BIM Coordination and Clash Detection Process • BIM coordination services are one of the biggest backbones for most of the implementation in the BIM related projects. The BIM coordination process includes clash detection reports, that gives constructability reviews for virtual as well as personal coordinated meetings with the team of construction professionals, that enhances the operability and BIM software thus ensure this project so as to there is no delay and with this incurs unnecessary costs for the team and the clients. • It further ensures the coordination and with the prior to get the installation to reduce the design changes. It identifies the issues in the process of pre-design stages and also to avoid errors in design, and also reduces the clashes and improves the coordination with the process of disciplines. This helps in reducing a lot of amount of wastages, conflicts, and installation issues. • The design drawings that are getting converted into the virtual 3D models for geometry presentation, all the models are then created with the help of the software Revit or Navisworks to detect this error, collisions, and interferences, etc.
