  1. Mr Akhilesh Srivastava: Efficiently Improving the Project Management System of India Technology has been one of mankind’s most celebrated accomplishment. Technology has solved problems, the solutions of which were unthinkable in the past. A vast number of fields are technologically advanced today all over the world. A great addition to the vast field of technology is Information Technology. The emergence of Information Technology has brought about ample growths in numerous sectors, accelerating the creation and the evolution of a global socio-technical system. Like most parts of the world, India too has been advancing on the tracks of Information Technology, which define the progress of the nation. The various enhancements that have been brought about by the brilliant use of Information Technology are indeed a great achievement, thus helping all possible sectors flourish. Shri Akhilesh Srivastava, the Head of Information Technology and the General Secretary of the National Highway Authority of India, has shown an astounding use of information technology. After a mere 1.5 years, he successfully took over as the CGM- IT in NHAI, following which he has brought about tremendous changes in the highway development project life cycle of India, with clever planning and successful execution using technology. His boundless enthusiasm for technology has helped him come up with various tech-savvy operations that have helped both Government and PSUs. One of Mr Akhilesh’s great contributions to the country is the Project Management Information System (PMIS). The Project Management Information System (PMIS) is a web-based, centralized tool for monitoring and evaluation of the physical, financial and outcome parameters of the Mission Mode Projects. Mission Mode Projects are Government projects that have clearly defined objectives, timelines and milestones. The Mission Mode Projects are a part of the e-Kranti framework of Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi’s Digital India Program. The manual management and regulation of the various projects undertaken by the Government was a strenuous task. In order to make project management easier, Mr Akhilesh, along with a team from the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), USA, conceptualized and developed a cutting edge Project Management Information System (PMIS) to ensure the timely completion of the infrastructure projects. Objectives of the Project Management Information System are: ● To cater a centralized monitoring and analytics for the physical & financial progress of various projects ● To boost the various departments to track and monitor the progress of the project centrally and state-wise ● Support decentralized data collection at source ● Reduce turnaround time in generating periodic progress reports The PMIS developed by Mr Akhilesh has a great number of beneficial features, such as: ● Provides customized reports along with project performance sheets

  2. ● Provides project management tools for individual as well as group projects ● Gets constant feedback from the Rapid Assessment System (RAS) ● Enables round the clock access anywhere with its Cloud base ● Equipped with the best data analytics tools to help progressive management of the projects ● Provides the contact information of the concerned e-Gov projects officers ● Integrated with the Digital India portal ● Can be easily accessed via cell phones ● Has 180 data fields for every project, and 500 data fields specifically for Public-Private Partnership (PPP) ventures ● Embedded with Geographical Information System (GIS) – a system that generates geographical data such as geological maps of all the civil ventures undertaken by the Government With the conceptualization, development and implementation of the PMIS, Mr Akhilesh has indeed simplified the complex process of project management, helping the Government, and thus, the nation take a step closer towards a digitalized environment. #AkhileshSrivastava #ProjectManagementInformationSystem #PMIS #NHAI .
