If you are watching as a PowerPoint ,watch it correctly … or it won’t make sense! • Turn on the volume. • On the top menu, make sure you click “Slide Show” then click “From Beginning” before watching. • The “Enter” key will take you to the next slide when you are ready. • The back arrow key will allow you to go back if you need to.

  3. Take Notes As you go through the PowerPoint write a definition for each type of rock. Then copy the detailed diagramof the rock cycle, like the one in the PPT. You do not need to draw all the pictures, just the diagram and vocabulary terms.

Major Rock Groups • Igneous • Formed from a molten rock • Intrusive (plutonic):slow cooling inside earth and crystallization • Extrusive (volcanic): quick cooling at the surface • Sedimentary • Formed at the Earth’s surface • From mineral or rock fragments & grains, clays, or precipitates • Metamorphic • Undergoes extreme pressure, temperature .

  5. The Rock Cycle Is the continuous process by which new rocks form from old rock material.
