  3. Changing Rock Types • Any rock type can change into any other __________. • There is no preferred direction of movement from one rock type to another. rock type

Questions • How does an Igneous rock become a Metamorphic rock? • Add heat & Pressure to change the parent rock. • List all the things that must happen for an Igneous rock to become a Sedimentary rock. • Weathering & Erosion; Sediments form, they are deposited, buried & compacted, then cemented to form a Sed. Rock. • Describe all the things that must happen for a Metamorphic rock to become an Igneous rock. • Melting to become magma, then solidification. • Describe all the things that must happen for a Sedimentary rock to become an Igneous rock. • Melting to become magma, then solidification (that’s 1 way!) • What is the molten rock called that when is solidifies will become an Igneous rock • Magma if below ground, Lava if on the Earth’s Surface.
