School Information • School Day: 8:35 a.m. – 3:05 p.m. • Students may be dropped off beginning at 8:20 a.m. • Grade 3 Lunch: 12:10 p.m. – 12:35 p.m. • Grade 3 Recess: 12:35 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. • Number of Homerooms: 9 • Third Grade: 3 • Fourth Grade: 3 • Fifth Grade: 3 • 2019-2020 Anticipated Grade 3 Average Class Size: ~23Students

Sample Daily Schedule • Homeroom: 8:35 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. • Reading: 8:45 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. • R.E.A.D.: 10:00 a.m. – 10:25 a.m. (snack) • Specials (music, art, etc.): 10:25 a.m. – 11:10 a.m. • Writing: 11:15 a.m. – 12:10 p.m. • Lunch : 12:10 p.m. – 12:35 p.m. • Recess: 12:35 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. • Math: 1:00 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. • Science/Social Studies/Enrichment: 2:15 p.m.–3:00 p.m. • Homeroom: 3:00 p.m. – 3:05 p.m.

  6. Homework • Homework may be used for practice, reinforcement and preparation / review for tests. The guidelines as to the amount of homework students can expect are: • Grade 3 – approximately 30 minutes per night • Grade 4 – approximately 40 minutes per night • Grade 5 – approximately 50 minutes per night * These times are approximations and will fluctuate throughout the year. It is normal for academic expectations to increase each year and as a result, students may struggle with the adjustment at the beginning of the school year.

  10. Morning Parent Drop-off • All student drop-offs take place on the south side of the school in the parent parking lot. • Students may be dropped off starting at 8:20 a.m. • It is best for students to be dropped off prior to 8:35 a.m.

  11. Afternoon Parent Dismissal • Parent Dismissal: Parents may enter the school through the south entrance near the new parking lot beginning at approximately 2:55 p.m., students will be called down at 3:05 p.m. • Van Dismissal: ~3:00 p.m. to 3:05 p.m. • Surround Care Dismissal: Students are called down at approximately 3:05 p.m. and ride Bus#6 to Hoyle School. • Bus Dismissal: Buses are called down two at a time from 3:09 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. • Students being picked up at Hoyle School must take their normal bus to Hoyle School. • Please send in a signed note in the morning if anyone other than the legal guardian is picking up your child. This includes dismissal time and for any appointments during the day.

  12. Class Assignments Grade 2 Students were notified today of their 2019-2020 homeroom teacher. I have been working with the grade 2 teachers, Mr. Courville, grade 3 teachers and the special education department to assign students to classes and teachers that we feel are in their best interest.

  13. Report Cards The grade 3-5 report card was updated for the 2018-2019 school year and is now a standards-based report card that does not have letter grades.

  14. Miscellaneous For any unique bus transportation questions, please contact the Director of Transportation, Dan Horton, at 508-646-4400. Lunch accounts transfer over to Luther School. For questions regarding the school lunch program, please contact Gail Oliveira at 508-646-4401.
