  2. The Sixth Commandment Love for God’s Gift of Marriage & Family

  3. What God Wants Us To Know • God made both man and woman. Sex is His good gift to be used as He desires. • Marriage is established by God. It is good and is to be used as God desires.

  4. A Christian Will NOT Want To… • Commit sinful sexual acts and be immoral.Adultery = sexual relations with someone else besides one’s spouseFornication = sexual relations between unmarried persons Homosexuality = sexual relations with one of the same sex • Speak improperly of sex and marriage (dirty jokes, unclean talk, etc.). • Even think improper thoughts.

  5. A Christian WILL Want To… • Think, speak, and act the way God desires concerning sex and marriage (e.g., clothing, TV, movies, etc.). • Have no sexual relations before marriage. • Seek to marry a fellow believer in Jesus. • Be faithful in marriage until death. • Glorify God in the care of one’s body.

  6. The Seventh Commandment Love for the use of God’s Gift of Possessions

  7. What God Wants Us To Know • God owns all money and possessions and distributes them to us and to others. • We are to remember that we are stewards (caretakers/managers) of our possessions.

  8. A Christian Will NOT Want To… • Take what is not his/hers (robbery, theft). • Get things dishonestly (fraud, cheating, gambling).

  9. A Christian WILL Want To… • Thank God for what one has and use it faithfully for family, for church, and for the poor. • Take care of and protect what belongs to others.

  10. A Christian Gives To the Lord • Gladly and willingly, out of love for Jesus. • Regularly (each week) and confidentially. • A percentage of income (suggestion of a tithe = 10% of what God gives you).
