Scope • Support all steps surrounding obtaining and managing research funding. • Assure that all necessary approvals are obtained, and that research ethics reviews are completed efficiently • Automate financial management • Recognize responsibility of Principal Investigator for all aspects of conducting research

How to Get Funding? • Find solicitation, write innovative and responsive proposal • Research admin creates budget from your specifications and program rules • Proposal is submitted into KC, with questions answered by admin and by you for approvals/reviews/validation/submission to sponsor • Notice of award or “just in time notification” • Validation of all applicable regulator approvals/training • Award establishment (DCG) • Account establishment (SPA) ---- get started • Do the work – spend funds

Role of Each TARA System • Kuali Coeus: proposal submission, approvals, award establishment, negotiation tracking, linked with “Cayuse” for system-system validation and submission • iStar (IRB, IACUC, Radiation Safety, Bio Safety): submission of protocols, review, tracking • diSClose: submission of conflict of interest information, review, management • Sophia: tech transfer: invention disclosure, MTAs, licensing, patenting • CORES: billing for use of shared labs
