  4. The Search Box • The Search box lets you search from any webpage • You can add search providers to the Search box Search providers you can quickly choose for your next search Access to add new search providers to the list

  5. Web Addresses (URLs) • Every webpage has a specific URL

  6. Top-level Domain Names • These tell you about the origin of many web pages

  7. Tabbed Browsing • Tabbed browsing lets you open several web pages in the same browser window Tip! Tabs are a convenient way to open several search results while keeping your search results page open.

  8. Downloading Files • Downloading: Saving an item from a remote site (e.g. a Web page) to your local computer File on Owen’s Computer Picture on a web page Download Important! A file downloaded from a website you can’t trust could contain malware or spyware.

  13. Outlook and Email • Outlook Email compared to Webmail: • Similar email capabilities • Attachments • Contacts • Hard drive based (no Web access) • Additional features for calendar and task management

  14. Addressing Email • All email addresses have the same three components • Separate multiple addresses with semicolons Example: owen.hugo@sfcc.edu;debra.oeste@hfh.org;baronson@hfh.org

  15. Sending Email Attachments • You can attach most types of files to Outlook email messages • You can attach multiple files to a single message • Outlook warns if a file that could possibly contain malware (a virus)

  16. Receiving Email Attachments • A paper clip alerts you that a message has one or more attachments • Attachments are embedded in the message until you save them Important! Never open an attachment in a message from someone you do not know. It could contain malware.
