  1. GRADE - 8 PROJECT -3 How Stuff Works? Area Of Interaction Human Ingenuity

  2. INVESTIGATION SECTION: (to be completed within 3 lessons) (This is what is required of you in a word document) Identify the Problem. 1. Examine the problem in terms of AOI. By demonstrating your understanding of how the AOI relates to the design problem. 2. What is the idea of creating a web site? AOI – Human Ingenuity ATL – Information Literacy

  3. Research on the item that you intend to work on and learn about how it works also passing on the message to others. 1. Why did you choose the item? 2. What are the inner components of the item? 3. How does that item work? 4. Is it possible to trouble shoot the problem if found? AOI – Human Ingenuity ATL – Information Literacy

  4. Write a Design Brief. The Design Brief is a short statement of whatyou are going to make, why you are going to make it, and for whom you are making it for. It should be an open ended statement (120- 150 words at least) AOI – Human Ingenuity ATL – Information Literacy

  5. DESIGN SPECIFICATION The Design Specification is the most crucial element of the Investigate phase of the Design Cycle. A good Design Specification should include information that you learned about the task/problem from your research. It is a list ofrequirementsthat your design ideas must meet plus a list ofconstraintsthat you have. It is the check list that you need to use when you start to make your design ideas. Remember you need to create at least 3 web pages (more if you like to). AOI – Human Ingenuity ATL – Information Literacy

  6. After your research you can develop a Design Specification. This will tell you:The Audience- Who you are designing for (who will watch your movie) • Objective - What the successful design must do: This is a description of • what the solution will accomplish. It could indicate how well the solution is • expected to work or under what conditions it will work • Production - • What it should look like (Size/colors/Fonts/Background/any other • ideas you think of.) • What software will you use to complete the task? • Tools needed to make the product. • Time needed to complete the product • Usage - How it will be used?

  7. Please refer to the website below to help you guide through the project: www.icteismn.wikispaces.com AOI – Human Ingenuity ATL – Information Literacy

  8. Criteria – B: Design Section Learning Question: How does sketching good designs help in completing my final product? You are expected to create three designs of your web pages and then justify them against the design specifications. You must then choose one design and write a paragraph explaining why you chose it. You must make sure the design you have chosen is detailed. AOI – Human Ingenuity ATL – Technology/Creativity

  9. Learning Question: How does sketching good designs help in completing my final product? COMPLETE DESIGNS TODAY You may visit the internet to look at some of the web page templates to sketch your designs. GET STARTED WITH DESIGN AOI – HUMAN INGEUNITY ATL – Technology/Creativity

  10. Criteria – C: PLAN Section LQ: How can good planning help you in completing the task? Planning is a crucial part of the whole design process. • You should have a:Production Plan:Step by step guide for creating that could be followed. Use some drawings to illustrate construction. • Indicate tools/equipment/skills needed.

  11. A Materials List (type of material, size, number required)Plan your Time.Include a Timelineas to how long you would take to complete each task. Example shown below: Complete PLAN by next Sunday

  12. CREATE The create phase is, obviously when you make your product or solution. This could be in the Technology workshop or it could be a Computer Technology solution. The process is the same. AOI – Human Ingenuity ATL – Technology/Creativity

  13. You need:Process JournalEach lesson you write down what you achieved.Write what you hope to achieve next lesson. • What problems you encountered and how you solved them • Justify any changes you make to your design • Take photographs or screen shots to explain the process. AOI – Human Ingenuity ATL – Technology/Creativity

  14. Create something to the best of your ability. COMPLETE THE ASSESSMENT MATRIX and REFLECTIONS IN YOUR BOOKLET. AOI – Human Ingenuity ATL – Technology/Creativity
