  6. Place the following statements into the correct columns: egoism can get confused with selfishness If everyone was egotistical the world wouldn’t be a nice place to live in. Egoism allows freedom to the individual Sometimes doing what is in your own best interests promotes the interests of other people as well In our modern society, you need to look out for number one. • People who are egoists should have less difficulty in deciding what they think is right. Egoism means people don’t think about the consequences their actions have for other people. What is right for 1 person could be wrong for another It is common sense to do what suits us best.

  7. Moral Scenario: • In groups; Come up with a moral scenario that describes how an egoist would make the decision. Remember the ones we looked at for utilitarianism!!! Preserving my head caused the greatest amount of happiness for the greatest number of people You’re wrong! It was purely to get fame and glory for yourself in the long run!

  8. Now look at how a utilitarian would see the situation. Would they do anything differently? What? Why?
