    2. 4/23/04 2 Faculty Salary Analysis CONTEXT Several years since significant increases for all employees. Unlike public school teachers, college faculty do not receive an annual step increase. Cost to raise below zero-step classified employees to zero-step level is an estimated $4.1 million in total funds. Cost of fully funding Mercer Classified Schedule is $19.2 million in total funds. (Includes zero step cost) In late 1990s all faculty salaries were elevated to mean of SREB peer groups. While a significant step, it only raised salaries to the 50th percentile of a much lower average than the real competitive market for WV colleges and universities. Previous reports have not separated the two-year and four-year campuses for salary or funding comparisons.
