Average Salary vs. Average Salary Schedule • Average salary combines salary of veteran and new teachers • Fluid number depending on retirees and new hires • Many retirements expected over the next 5 years so average salary expected to decline • Not based on district type, size, or funding model • J90 is voluntary document (not all districts report data) it uses an average of teacher placement in all elementary schools throughout California. Average 2017-18 J90 salary of all reporting districts is $80,269 • Average salary schedules compares the same criteria: Beginning salary, BA +60 with 10 years experience, highest salary offered • Forestville- $62,658 (1% difference from Sonoma Co. 5% difference from state) • Sonoma County- $ 63,316 ( 4% difference from State) • *Statewide Elementary District with ADA<1,000- $65,926 *CDE website statewide average salaries

  2. Salary Schedule • Step- Experience based, annually moving down one step. Steps range from 0%- 4.75% salary increase. An average of all steps is 2% even though some teachers may be on a frozen step • Column- Moving across the salary schedule when additional college units are obtained. Columns range from a 1.24%- 7.3% salary increase • It is possible to have both a step and a column increase in the same year • Any salary increase would be an addition to step and column • Current (2018-19) employee averaged a step increase of 2.10% • Negotiations from 2014-2018 • On salary increases 6% • Off salary bonus 3% • HWB increased from $6237 to $10,620 @ 42% increase • Salary based on contract of 7 hour day/183 days per year – other districts will vary therefore their salaries will also be different • Daily rate will vary depending upon contracted days – more contract days = more money

Other Teacher Support • Paraprofessional support in the classroom daily • Paraprofessional support for English Language Learners • Paraprofessional support with technology instruction • Paraprofessional behavior support • Paraprofessional RSP support • Credentialed Art and Music Teachers • 40% Counselor, 40% School Psychologist • 60 minutes weekly collaboration • 200 minutes of preparation time weekly (Art and Music) • 45 minutes of duty free recess daily (30 minutes before school, 15 minute recess) • 35 minutes duty free lunchtime daily • Total non student contact time 660 minutes or 11 hours weekly • Contracted day 7 hours or 35 hours weekly • Contracted year 183 days • Low class sizes (2018-19 class size ranges from 12-27)

Special Education 2018/19 • Mandated by State & Federal law, yet only partially funded • Staff includes- Psychologist, Counselor, Resource Specialist Teacher, Occupational Therapist, Speech Pathologist • Specialized classroom programs through SELPA and West County Consortium • Total Special Education Costs - $555,000 • Federal and State dollars received- $214,000 • Forestville’s General Fund contribution- $341,000 • This cost will increase due to the return of the Middle School in 2019-20
