Overview of Project • Joint effort between WVDOH & MD SHA • Provide widened highway corridor between I-68 & Corridor H • Based on North/South Appalachian Corridor Study • Memorandum of Understanding between WVDOH & MD SHA • Utilizing the “Consolidated” planning approach • Corps, FWS, & Natural Resource Staffs involved (IAWG) • Environmental Factors Included Early in Process • Two Tier Process • Tier 1: Evaluate Alternative Corridors at Planning Scale • Tier 2: Evaluate Alignments Within Corridor(s) at Engineering Scale

Retained for Detailed Study – Completed 4/07 • Draft Environmental Impact Study – Due 12/08 • 30-Day Comment Period Ends – 2/09 • Final Public Hearing (s) – Spring, 2009 • Revisions/Final EIS/Record of Decision – Spring, 2010 • Tier 2 • Evaluate Highway Alignments Within One or Two Final Corridors From Tier 1 EIS.
