  1. HiRadMat safety preparation Follow-up meeting 17/06/2011

  2. Alarms • Met all groups generating alarms • Summary table in progress • Met TI and CCC responsible For HiRadMat it is similar as for the other lines (TI 2, TI 8 and CNGS). Operations does not rely on alarms. Any equipment failure like cooling problem of the power converters, vacuum valve going in,…generates directly a hardwired interlock and prevents extraction. There are a number of alarms automatically there with the equipment, but nothing configured especially. I hope this is enough information. Cheers, Verena • As baseline, we must check that all alarms generating a potential hazard is hardwired interlock and prevent operation. As HRM is a test facility, the failure is understood and repaired before starting again operation. • Action from CCC in case of alarms: call relevant on duty service and physicist in charge. • CV alarms will not be interlocked. ( TI) • RP alarms to HRM control room, action taken by physicist in charge • Meeting with all stakeholders in CCC next Monday morning

  3. Processes • Met all groups involved in HiRadMat operation and process identification completed • Breakdown in progress • Study case developed my Marion

  4. Waste management • 2 procedures checked by Charles-Edouard and Yvon Algoet • New version in progress.

  6. B.846 evacuation procedure & risk mitigation • Dedicated HRM safety training to users • Explain evacuation procedure, check capability • Limit # of TNC intervenants (4 to be validated by FB) • Use of red phone (triggers FB assistance at the top of B.846) • Permanent and tested lifting points in shaft • Rescue equipment at the bottom of the shaft • Phone available at the surface • RP supervision at all time in TJ7 • Periodic inspections (lights, electricity, crinoline...) • Shaft overpressure control (alarm to CCC)

  7. Safety file descriptive part • Still in work.
