  1. THE YEAR OF FAITH

  2. When is the YOF? • Announced by Pope Benedict XVI • Began on 11 October 2012 • Ends 24 November 2013 – The Solemnity of Christ the King

  3. What is the YOF about? Pope Benedict uses the image of ‘the door of faith’ (Acts 14:27) as the title of PortaFidei, his Apostolic Letter for the Year of Faith “The “door of faith” is always open for us, ushering us into the life of communion with God and offering entry into his Church. It is possible to cross that threshold when the word of God is proclaimed and the heart allows itself to be shaped by transforming grace.” (PF 1) INVITATION

  4. What is the YOF about? “To enter through that door is to set out on a journey that lasts a lifetime. It begins with baptism, through which we can address God as Father, and it ends with the passage through death to eternal life, fruit of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, whose will it was, by the gift of the Holy Spirit, to draw those who believe in him into his own glory.” (PF 1) JOURNEY

  5. What is the YOF about? “To profess faith in the Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit • is to believe in one God who is Love: the Father, who in the fullness of time sent his Son for our salvation; Jesus Christ, who in the mystery of his death and resurrection redeemed the world; the Holy Spirit, who leads the Church across the centuries as we await the Lord’s glorious return.” (PF 1) FAITH

  6. What is the YOF about? THE YEAR OF FAITH IS AN INVITATON TO JOURNEY IN FAITH

  7. Why do you think Pope Benedict thinks we might need a Year of Faith? Why do you think we might need a Year of Faith?

  8. Why we need a YOF? • So we can learn more about Jesus our Lord. • Our Invitation is to be a follower of Jesus and to be his friend. • The Journey we will take will not always be easy; sometimes the road will be long and hard but Jesus our Friend will always be there for us. • It is our Faith that will keep us strong on this journey. When times are tough it is Jesus who will help us through.
