  1. Internet-based communication between Hospital and General Practitioners IKTA4-133 PROJECT Project co-ordinator: Simon Béla head of IT dep. simonb@tmkorhaz.terrasoft.hu Tolna County Hospital H-7100 Szekszárd, Béri Balogh u. 5-7. HUNGARY IKTA4-133 projcet presentation, May 22. 2003, Roma

  3. Main objectives • Accessing the appointments calendar of Hospital, GP can optimise the referring date for patients in accordance with the capacity of specific wards and needs of the patients. In the non-urgent cases, by sending the patient’s data electronically - via the Internet –, the medical staff of the hospital can get rid of the administrative task of entering referring data into the HIS. • On the aother hand the family doctor can access his/her patient’s care data from HIS automatically as the actual hospital care had been closed with the final documants. In this way the family doctor can see the treatment’s result before patient would show up in the doctor’s office with the paper-formed final report. By merging the final report’s data of hospital cases into the GP’s application system these data can be accessed for any future patient-visit. IKTA4-133 projcet presentation, May 22. 2003, Roma

  4. Expected results, benefits The integration of the different levels of health care (primary care, outpatient, inpatient care) can improve the quality of curing, nursing and prevention activities on each sides which accompanies the cost-reduction of care, because for example with the information of specific diagnostic examinations’ findings, the number of repeatedly or unnecessarily requested examinations can be decreased. The waiting time for examinations can be shortened significantly by the usage of appointment diary. The medical staff’s work can be planned, scheduled in a better way in accordance with the appointment system. Accessing the hospital treatment’s data the family doctor can have a better view of his/her patient and the facility of automatic insert of the final results into the GP-application, the family doctor can see these data in the future any time.
