Mission Statement • The Children’s Inn was created so the people who are in relationships where there is domestic violence and abuse have a safe place to go and stay. • It was originally created so that children had a place to go if they were being abused or neglected. • The range of programs and services to women and children who have been victims of domestic violence has steadily grown.

  3. History of the Children’s Inn • The Children’s Inn was founded in 1977. • As far as anyone knows, the Children’s Inn is the only shelter in the United States that provides services to both abused/neglected children and women. • Often the women come with their children.

  4. Accomplishments • Within the first two weeks, battered women and their children were asking for a place just like Children’s Inn. • In 2005, they expanded their building by 10 bedrooms, four bathrooms, a multipurpose room, along with increased living, dining, laundry, and support space, and a more secure entrance.

  5. More Information • Children’s Inn has an annual Christmas wrapping fundraiser ever year at the Sioux Empire Mall. • It is located at 409 N. Western Avenue in Sioux Falls. • http://www.chssd.org/ci/CIHome.asp
