  4. Ethos • The trustworthiness of a speaker • Can be based on the speaker’s background • Speaker must build a relationship with the listener • Example… • You are more likely to believe me because I’m a teacher

  5. Logos • The use of logic and facts to prove a point and persuade • Example… • You would use statistics to convince somebody that one football team is better than another
