South Carolina’s Statewide STEM Infrastructure - A Brief History • 13 Regional Mathematics & Science Hubs • Scope of Work: 1993-98 Individual Leadership development. 1998-2003 School Leadership Team development and SC LASER (science & math kits). As determined by National Science Foundation. • Oversight – SC Department of Education and local Advisory Boards. The Hubs 1993 - 2003 • 8 Regional Mathematics & Science Centers • Scope of Work: 2003-09: Instructional Coaching and standards implementation as determined by SCDE. • Oversight - SC Department of Education. • SCCMS is formed. Mathematics & Science Regional Centers 2003 - 2009 • 8 Regional S2MART Centers • Scope of Work: 2009-11 Instructional Coaching including literacy and multiple projects serving Title 1 and Technical Assistance schools as determined by SCDE. • Oversight - SC Department of Education & SCCMS 2009 - 2011 • S2TEM Centers SC • Scope of Work: Standards implementation, STEM school support, SC STEM plan, IQ-MS research and other efforts as identified by fee for service clients and grant funders. • Oversight –SCEducation Oversight Committee & SCCMS Present
