  3. Self-assess on CSTPDescriptions of Practice. Fall Cycle of Inquiry • Select one or two areas of strength and one or • two areas of focus for each standard and complete • the DOPSummary. • Induction Standard Focus: • Standard 15 - Core Content • New Standard 6 - English Language Learners • Write an Individual Induction Plan (IIP) • Core Content area • 2 Target Students - one ELL or LEO • One goal for each CSTP • Formal Coaching Cycle on CSTP # 1 & IS 6-ELL • Student Work Analysis • Summary Reflection

  4. DOP Protocol • CSTP 1 - Engaging All Students: • Take out the DOP for the CSTP Standard 1 Engaging & Supporting All Students in Learning • Take out the CSTP Summary Sheet • You will need a yellow marker or highlighter and a pencil.

DOP Protocol • Based on your self-assessment of CSTP #1 (Engaging Students), choose one or two areas you would like to improve and one or two areas you feel are going well. • Transcribe onto your Summary Sheet in the StrengthsandFocusAreas for CSTP #1. • The Focus Area will become your IIP goal for CSTP #1 (Engaging All Students).

  7. Ask a Question Now that you have completed the DOP for CSTP Standard #1: • Jot down a question you have about: CSTP 1: Student Engagement 4 minutes • Make eye contact with a peer at another table. • Introduce yourself and take turns discussing your ?s. 9 minutes

Induction Standard 6 (Formerly Standard 19) Teaching English Language Learners • With your Support Provider review, compare, and discuss the • Teacher Preparation Standard from your preservice program and • the new Induction Standard for Teaching English Language Learners. • Describe your strengths and challenges related to teaching practice for • ELLs. • Think about how you might demonstrate how you are applying the • elements of the induction standard in your classroom right now. What • evidence could you provide? • If you would like further support, think about the areas you might want • to explore.

  10. Induction Standard 6 - English Language Learners Count off by 4’s What kinds of evidence might you provide for your portfolio for each of the elements below? What kind of district or BTSA support might you need? Participating teachers comply with the identification, referral and re-designation processes for English Learners and adhere to legal and ethical obligations for teaching English Learners. 1 Participating teachers comply with district policies regarding primary language support services for students. Participating teachers plan instruction for English Learners based on the students’ levels of proficiency and literacy in English and primary language as assessed by multiple measures such as the California English Language Development Test (CELDT), the California Standards Test (CST), and local assessments. 2 Participating teachers implement the components of English Language Development: grade-level academic language instruction, ELD by proficiency level, and/or content-based ELD. 3 Participating teachers instruct English learners using state adopted standards-aligned instructional materials. Participating teachers use differentiated strategies informed by students’ culture, level of acculturation, proficiency levels in English and prior schooling. 4
