Brown County OSU Extension • Pilot college level transition course in 6 selected high schools in partnership with Shawnee State University • High School Student Tracker • EXPLORE testing in 27 school districts in 6 counties and provide scholarship • Provide professional development on growing endowments locally for the benefit of our students; developing online manual of rural college access strategies; provide training with the Ohio State Extension Office 4H personnel through SOCOE • Expand the Region 7 P-16 Collaborative Partnership through community engagement activities.

Resource CenterHome of Four Computers, Staffed by 7 Volunteer Counselors, Open 4 Days a Week Goal: Increase awareness for the students, parents and community regarding the need for, and benefits of education beyond high school. • Four Computers • Access to online applications, scholarship searches, practice ACT and SAT test bank through OCIS accounts. • Meeting Place for College Reps • Students use the center during their study halls, lunch and early dismiss/late arrivals • All Juniors are introduced to program during the ACT Prep Class – discussion on the difference between minimum and living wage, ACT Score/University match game, wage/career match

18. Practice College Entrance Exams PSAT given to 109 Students (typically around 50 might take it) PLAN will be given to around 132 students EXPLORE given to 8th graders in February Local Catering facility and Lakewood grad donating testing space and district providing bussing.

19. Jump Start Evening Series • Real Money Real Life – sponsor Park National Bank • Focus: Educate students and parents about the value and need of education beyond high school to earn a living wage. Game using wages of various professions – could you make it? Cell phone, insurance, clothing, housing how do you pay for it all?  • Prepare to Soar • Focus: College prep basics – Franklin Covey Rep: time management, Denison University Counselor: essay writing skills, GOT Staff: interviewing and importance of community service and high school course selection for college admissions. • Financial Aid Info/Workshop Nights • First night (Jan 9th) Guest Speaker on the ins and outs of the FAFSA • Second Night (Jan 26th) Jam Session – parents sign up to use the computers around the building to fill out the FAFSA (anyone else having trouble with the incompatible browser error?) • Making the Transition • Focus: Discussion panel of college personnel, academic advisors, administration, college professor and alumni discussing services available for students (tutoring, labs, library services, career and academic advising and ways to get connected and involved at college). Mentorship Match Night – matching community leaders and business professionals with students. Mentors contact and offer advice and encouragement to new students while applying for colleges and during their time in college – this is organized by leader in area businesses!

Law & Leadership Institute Statewide initiative in collaboration with the legal community that inspires and prepares students from underserved communities for postsecondary and professional success How: Comprehensive four-year academic program in law, leadership, analytical thinking, problem solving, writing skills and professionalism Great Lakes funding for college tours in Ohio, Kentucky, and Michigan

22. Hardin County OSU Extension • In Hardin County 4-H over 900 youth are involved in traditional 4-H Clubs. Another 500 are involved in school enrichment, Real Money Real World, and Hardin County Youth Leadership. • Great Lakes funding will be utilized to hire a part-time College Access Program Coordinator to help implement “Beyond 12” designed to help youth realize there are opportunities available to them beyond 12thgrade • Integrate college access methods into current OSU Extension programming • Target rural and 1stgeneration students

23. Beyond 12: Integrate into Current Programs • Youth Leadership- present the Know How 2 Go concept to 36 sophomores • The youth leaders will then teach what they learn to middle school classes in their schools. • Real Money, Real World- expand the curriculum to include a lesson on how careers relate to college education requirements. • Expand the program to 4 of 6 county schools

24. Beyond 12: Integrate into Current Programs • 4-H Clubs and Camp- start connecting projects and activities with career choices and education. • visit clubs to talk about college and other education

Beyond 12: New Programs • Beyond 2020- career fair for 4th-7th grade students. • starts elementary and middle school youth focusing on career choices and what it takes to get there • Business professionals will talk to youth about how they got into their chosen career. • Parent Education Night- teach parents about how college to get their kids to college • Have college financial aid and admissions professionals on hand to answer questions

26. Fairfield County College Bound Fairfield County College Bound was granted status as an Ohio not-for-profit organizationin January 2011 after a discussion by Lancaster community leaders in October 2010. The mission of Fairfield County College Bound is to assist Fairfield County residents in understanding the value of higher education while linking them with resources and opportunities to access and pursue it. With funding from Great Lakes, FCCB seeks to begin implementation of a plan to provide services to every district within Fairfield County.

27. ECHHO[Educators and Community Helping Hispanics Onward] Statewide initiative driven by members who are primarily college faculty, with a mission to provide higher education information for Hispanic students and encourage them to pursue education beyond high school. Since its creation in 1983, the members of Educators & Community Helping Hispanics Onward (ECHHO) have been trailblazers in the development of focused, dedicated and productive recruitment efforts in Hispanic communities in Ohio ,and is fully committed to providing a much needed vehicle that showcases quality Hispanic students. For 2010-2011, there are 65 individual ECHHO members representing 29 colleges and community organizations. We currently host college fairs/recruitment programs in the following Ohio counties: Cuyahoga, Franklin, Lorain, Lucas, Mahoning, Montgomery, Putnam, Sandusky and Wood. Great Lakes funding for will expand programming by providing bussing to events, as well as lunch; ECHHO scholarships, and creating a database of those served for retention efforts

28. Eastern Ohio P-16 • P-16 Partnership for Ashtabula, Columbiana, Mahoning, and Trumbull counties; made up of 76 members • Operates two direct service access programs that provide postsecondary awareness, preparation, and persistence • Exploring ACT • LEADING forward – college preparatory mentorship • Great Lakes funding will help to develop, implement and track programming for Exploring ACT initiative
