  1. 3 Keys to prayer 1 John 5: 13 - 15

  2. 13I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.14This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.15And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

  3. Key #1 (1 John 5:14b) • John says that “if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” This is what Jesus tells us about asking • And whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son (John 14:13). • If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you (John 15:7). • Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full (John 16:27).

  4. 3 Kinds of asking prayers

  5. Key #2 14This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. This is what Jesus tells us about seeking • But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33) Approaching God • "Do not come any closer," God said. "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground." (Exodus 3: 5).

  6. Key #3 15And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. How will you ever know if the door is open if you do not try the handle?

  7. Ezekiel 37: 3-7 He asked me, "Son of man, can these bones live?" I said, "O Sovereign LORD, you alone know." Then he said to me, "Prophesy to these bones and say to them, 'Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! This is what the Sovereign LORD says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD.' " So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone.

  8. As we enter 2008 • We are coming out of 07 the Lords Year • There are dark times ahead • But remember He has called us to Pray & • 1 John 5: 18-20 We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him. We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true—even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
