Most ancient Egypt fashion, regardless of the gender or society level for which it was intended, was constructed for the purposes of keeping cool in the hot, dry desert.Flax plantsFabric was generally constructed of linen, made of the flax plant, which allowed the wearer to remain comfortable in the hot climate.

  5. Jewellery was extremely popular throughout the history of Egypt. Excavations of tombs have shown that queens of Egypt were almost always buried with a lot of jewellery to be used in the afterlife. The amount of jewellery worn by an individual often indicated their social position and level of wealth. Jewelled collars were very popular and usually made of very brightly coloured gems.

  17. The Ancient Egyptians paid a great deal of attention to their personal grooming-they used oils, creams, body scrubs and perfumes. They wore makeup, painted their nails, dyed their hair, shaved their hair, wore wigs and covered themselves in jewellery. Who knows where fashion would be today if it were not for the Ancient Egyptians!
