  3. Mystical Method False Ways Must have contact with divinity Interpreted in a miraculous way Therefore only a few can read and interpret It would not be a revelation if this were true !

  4. Allegorical Method False Ways Treat the Bible as a Riddle History = figures of speech Gen. 2:10-14 - 4 rivers are 4 virtues Allegories are explained - Gal. 4:24

  5. Spiritual Interpretation False Ways Every person can interpret Every person receives his meaning Becomes a law of interpretation unto himself Strange that they do not interpret the same Would not deal with other books this way.

  6. Literal Interpretation False Ways It says what it means and means what it says Letter from friend I’ve about worked my head off this week. Bible often uses figures of speech that cannot be taken literally.

  9. Inductive Method Luke 24:27 “expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself” expound = to explain thoroughly, interpret Acts 15 - Jerusalem conference Apostles met with elders and church Question - can Gentiles be admitted without keeping the law Heard the different men speak Reached a conclusion

  10. Inductive Method 1 Thes. 5:21 “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” 2 Tim. 2:15 Acts 17:11 “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
